Eventually, the hunger pangs of homesickness prompted him to build his own boulangerie, in the fittingly chic neighbourhood of Chelsea.

Of course, this is no regular bakery; the restaurant is a hot spot for A-listers such as Kylie Minogue and Sienna Miller, who cannot resist a piece of Parisian gourmet. In fact, such was its success that Aubaine opened a second branch in Heddon Street, with another three yet to follow.
